ILP #2 Design Prezi

For this project I created a Prezi about habitats. I made this as a learning tool for young students or anyone learning about habitats. I listed the different types of habitats and the most important features of these habitats. I have never used Prezi before this project but it was very easy to use and a fun alternative way to give out information rather than a boring powerpoint.

Blog Journal #10

As a teacher I think I would use surveys a lot in my classroom to gauge how well I am doing as a teacher. I will probably assign exit surveys after a lesson or semester to see what I need to improve on or change completely in my lesson plans. I know I will definitely use Excel for grades to help me stay organized and to easily find the class average and other basic math tools I may need.
The technology I would like to explore next would be photoshop. It has always intrigued me but I never played around with it too much but I think it would be a very fun and useful tool. So I plan on downloading it on my computer and maybe watch some youtube tutorials about how to use it and play around with it for a while to get used to it.

The flipped classroom is the concept where a teacher records or puts the lesson online for the student to watch or complete by class time the next day and then in class the teacher would have the students do the homework from the lesson. This is considered a "flipped" classroom because you are flipping the instruction with the homework. In high school I had a flipped classroom for a few class periods in my geometry class, the reviews from the student were mixed, personally I did not enjoy it and prefer the traditional classroom.
Open educational resources (OER) are resources for teachers and students that are distributed through the web and are free of charge. It can vary from anything from a video to an online lesson plan. I found the University of Hawaii's page about OER, which includes links on where to find OER, how to create an OER, and even has a definition of what OER stands for and means. https://oer.hawaii.edu/
While working on the PowerPoints I learned many new skills. Some include how to make a non-linear powerpoint and be able to link it to new slides, what a master viewer was and how to edit it, how to add action buttons, and how to add presenter notes/view. These skills will help me in the future for projects and lesson plans. I did not like how the words were underlined and how the buttons looked, in the future I would have figured out how to edit them.

Blog Journal #8

So far Diigo has been an amazing tool. I can easily annotate any webpage and share it with my peers which will make group assignments much easier. It will also help me immensely with future projects as I can save and annotate webpages so I do not have to keep trying to fund the webpage and also the information I wanted to use from the page. Overall, it is a very helpful tool that I will definitely utilize for many projects and also probably my future career.
By using PowerPoint, I can hit each aspect of Bloom's Taxonomy for any lesson. An example would be learning about farm animals.  I can construct a PowerPoint that explains what farm animals are and the classifications that come with it. I can make it fun and interactive by asking questions, playing videos and sounds, applying the animals in real world examples such as they all serve a purpose for the farmer and some of those purposes would be providing milk, or meat. I would have the children answer questions, do group work, and in the end create a drawing of their favorite farm animal and present it to the class with an example of a service it provides for the farmer.
As a teacher it is our responsibility to teach our students about the incoming technology so they are not behind in this very digital day of age. This article has all the new technology being used in the classroom as well as explanations of the applications and how to use said technology. This source is extremely useful as trends change quickly and this keeps the teachers up to date on the latest trends.     https://campustechnology.com/Articles/2018/01/11/7-Ed-Tech-Trends-to-Watch-in-2018.aspx?Page=2

Blog Journal #7

My experience with Twitter so far has been positive. I really enjoy the app and it is very easy to use. I have learned new forms of communication with my academic peers as well as up and coming technology that can be used in a classroom setting. There are many benefits for Twitter; such as easy and fast communication, access to news and other important information, as well as entertainment. So far I have not experienced any issues with Twitter as I have been using it for years and know how the app works.
I enjoyed the web design assignment as it allows me to be creative. I know I will probably create my own website when I become a teacher to keep all my announcements and events in order as young children tend to forget or lose paper announcements. I really liked this assignment as I know I will use this in the future. Next time I want to make it more esthetically pleasing and easier to access and use. Overall I think this was a great assignment. http://graysonhefner.weebly.com/
Assistive and adaptive technology is used in the classroom for anyone who has a disability or learning problem. It can be anything from a piece of cardboard to a smart computer. It is designed to help students learn material in a new way that they can understand. I have used assistive technology as it could be anything assistive. I have used special learning programs to help me learn math and typing, both I was not great at, that really helped me learn and now I can type without looking and accomplish math problems I never knew I could. My brother also has used assistive technology as he is dyslexic and needed new forms of skills and tools to help him to learn how to read with his disability. Some challenges in the classroom would be when to integrate the technology and with whom.

ILP Design Piktochart

For my ILP I chose to do an infographic about my future classroom. I put my contact information as well as some information about upcoming events and meetings throughout the year. I used the tools provided to create a fun and engaging infographic for both the parents and the students use.

Blog Journal #6

I went onto Julington Creek Elementary School's website and found many helpful links and tools that I would need if I were a parent of a child at the school or even looking at sending my kids there. The public information I found on the site included the lunch schedule and prices, the dress code, the newsletter, important links to events, a school calendar, and much more. This would be a helpful tool for parents who have small questions that need to be answered instead of calling and asking the school. If you cannot find what you are looking for then there is the contact information provided to be able to contact the school. https://www-jce.stjohns.k12.fl.us/parents/

In the classroom I envision myself using technology very often. It not only will make my classroom run smoother, but it will also benefit me and my students. I plan on using Microsoft Office, Classroom Dojo, and whatever my school can provide me with (hopefully a smartboard). I plan on utilizing any technology I can get my hands on as I know it will make teaching more interactive and fun for my students. Since I plan on teaching special education, I know intergrading technology will be vital in my classroom as some of my students may only communicate through typing or another form of communication.
In the Technology Sandbox I saw many tools I could use in the classroom. I really liked the big interactive screen that can be adjusted for height that can be used for many outlets and subjects. It is a very versatile and fun way for students to learn without really realizing it. I also liked the virtual reality headset as it could be used for a multitude of things such as visiting the dinosaurs or space for certain science units.
